Personality: Miles is at his core the good kid. He is very family-centered. He's popular in his neighborhood and he's comfortable there. He doesn't like the idea of having to change schools and leave behind his friends for a school that feels too fancy for him. His motivations are based on wanting to do the right thing. He thinks it's better to be at his regular school so he tries to flunk out by intentionally bombing on tests. Whenever something goes really wrong, Miles first instinct is to always go home. He doesn't always tell his parents what's happening but he knows that home is where he is safe and loved no matter what. This keeps him very anchored and centered even when he feels like everything else is falling apart.
While he's a good kid, Miles also has a bit of a rebellious streak. His father's a cop and despite that, he likes to stick his graffiti around the neighborhood but his dad always seems to find his tags. He sneaks out of school to see his Uncle and depends heavily on his Uncle's support and understanding. His uncle encourages Miles creativity and supports him even taking Miles somewhere to graffiti a wall. Miles looks up to his Uncle which makes finding out that his Uncle is working for the villain hurts him deeply. His Uncle saves him, though, and Miles doesn't hold on to feeling angered or betrayed.
Miles goes on to use things that his Uncle and his father taught him to defeat the villain in the end. He understands that his choices are what define him and not anything else. He chooses to be forgiving and compassionate and to fight for his family including the Uncle who for a moment had let him down but died for him.
Miles growth into becoming that boy and Spider-man isn't a straight line, though. He struggles to have the confidence and faith in himself to be able to use his abilities on demand. He's somewhat afraid and hesitant to accept the responsibility that comes with what happened despite the sense of duty to the Peter Parker he watched die. No one is able to really turn the switch on for him, he takes the advice he's given with that, grief and not wanting anyone else to suffer that he does find the strength of character to take the leap of faith and control his new abilities.
Key themes: I would say that the main themes for Miles are family and having faith in himself. He leans heavily into what his family thinks and defines how he thinks about himself by them at times. One of the most important themes for Miles is having the faith and confidence in himself to be able to use his abilities and really become Spider-Man.
Main Motivation: Miles wants to do good. He wants to protect the people that he loves and also anyone who's innocent. He's not really motivated by fear or need for revenge or vengeance but instead it's a fierce need to protect and serve (runs in the family).
